ILCA provides resources helping students preparing to become an IBCLC to support breastfeeding families and babies.

Every day, all around the world, breastfeeding families are impacted by the work of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants® (IBCLC®), healthcare professionals who specialize in the clinical management of breastfeeding.

Lactation consulting is a growing field, and ILCA supports global access to skilled lactation care and the IBCLC profession as a part of the value placed on equity. If you would like to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, ILCA would like to be a part of your success.

We encourage you to begin by becoming familiar with the Preparing for IBCLC Certification document on the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) website. There, you will find information about educational requirements and the various pathways to certification.
