World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August all over the globe to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world.

"Empower Parents. Enable Breastfeeding."

The theme for 2019 World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) has been announced - Empower Parents. Enable Breastfeeding. ILCA is partnering with organizations around the globe - including United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO), International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN), La Leche League International (LLLI), The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM), Wellstart International, the Global Goals, and the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) - to promote the role that breastfeeding plays in valuing our wellbeing.

Breastfeeding is a universal solution that levels the playing field, giving everyone a fair start in life.
It improves the health, wellbeing and survival of women and children around the world.

Please note that ILCA does not produce its own World Breastfeeding Week kit. We work with WABA to assist in the development of their materials. ILCA does not offer any World Breastfeeding Week promotional products. Logo files are available for download on the World Breastfeeding Week website that you may use to create you own items.

World Breastfeeding Week is coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), a global network of individuals and organizations concerned with the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding worldwide, based on the Innocenti Declarations, the Ten Links for Nurturing the Future, and the WHO/UNICEF Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding. WABA’s core partners are the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM), International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN), International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), La Leche League International (LLLI), and Wellstart International. WABA is in consultative status with UNICEF and an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

ILCA thanks WABA for allowing us to use their materials on our website.
